| 'Smithsonian' Forms Partnership for Concerts in Manhattan
Smithsonian Magazine is partnering with the Metropolis Ensemble to present two concerts at the Angel Orensanz Foundation Center for the Arts in New York City. "Smithsonian Magazine readers are avid cultural catalysts, and an overwhelming number of them fulfill their passion for the arts by regularly attending live music performances," said Smithsonian Publishing Group publisher Kerry Bianchi. At the first Metropolis Ensemble concert on May 24, conductor Andrew Cyr will lead an international ensemble in a blue-grass inflected East-meets-West Mandolin Concerto by composer Avner Dorman, complimented by in-vogue Argentinean composer Osvaldo Golijov and the Chamber Symphony of Dmitri Shostakovich. In October, composer Dave Longstreth, leader of the indie rock band the Dirty Projectors, will collaborate with the Metropolis Ensemble in a classical twist on contemporary rock.
The Brooklyn Paper / John N. Barclay
Unless you have an unfortunate shellfish allergy, you'll want to put down this paper (after reading this, of course) and immediately head to Williamsburg. Chef Dino Castri, who has recently taken over the kitchen at PT Restaurant, is serving sea urchins and scallops in a light, creamy citrus sauce. Oh, the joys of spring! What makes eating something that seasonally perfect even more delightful is the room's cozy ambience; PT Restaurant, which opened in August, is housed on the lower level of a brownstone. The candlelit, subterranean space is outfitted with brick walls, long, wooden, communal tables with stools filling in for chairs and an unexpected postal theme (PT is named for the Italian postal service) that includes mail-related antiques circa 1910. It's a comforting environment to hunker down with a big bowl of pasta or a hefty steak — spring brings grass-fed filet mignon with polenta and porcini mushrooms.

Judicial Panel Muzzles Chairman
ALBANY---Manhattan attorney Raoul Felder, appointed by Gov. George Pataki to the state Commission of Judicial Conduct of which he is currently chairman, has been muzzled by the commission which has blocked him from speaking publicly on behalf of the judicial panel or sign letters for the commission. Earlier this week, commission members unanimously expressed their loss of confidence in the judgment and leadership of Felder as chairman and sought his resignation after Felder co-authored a book titled "Schmucks!" with comedian Jackie Mason. The book has a subtitle of "Our Favorite Fakes, Frauds, Lowlifes, Liars, the Armed and Dangerous and Good Guys Gone Bad". The commission said the book repeatedly invokes racial, ethnic and religious invective and that such statements are inconsistent with the Commission's role in enforcing the judicial obligations to refrain from words or conduct that manifest bias based on race, religion or national origin, and to require court employees and lawyers to refrain from such conduct.
